Here are the few things that we need to consider when designing a training plan for you:
In most cases, it is providing the knowledge of the new system but that may not be enough. The new system works differently because the business processes have been reengineered. The staff has to think differently, act differently and look at things differently to utilize the efficiencies of the new solution.
What do you expect to gain from training? Defining the training requirements is the starting point for deciding the extent and medium of training. These requirements should include the teams what will require training, the specific knowledge and skills that they will require; and setting up and achieving proficiency targets.
Who are the Key Users and the End Users?
Key users require different level of skill set than the end users. Key users are considered to be experts and are usually the main point of contact. Ends users are primary point of contacts in various functional areas. Their training is mostly limited to the knowledge related to their functional area.
Who will carry on the training after the training period?
At times and usually with the medium and small size projects this is the best approach provided that the key users have the capability (both in terms of availability and willingness) to train the end users. Sometimes it is the basic training for the end users and subsequently their queries are handled by the key users initially. There is one size fit all solution for training. Though by and large the steps are the same, the extent of training is largely dependents on various factors including company, industry, complexity of processes, and expertise level of the employees both with the company’s business processes as well as with the latest computing technologies and so forth.
When is the best time to train the Key and End Users?
The timing of the training is of essence. The training is more or less an ongoing process that happens informally as the project is being implemented. Yes, the formal classroom session may not take place until later, but without having adequate knowledge of the solution, the key users will be unable to their share and thus need to be trained, updated or educated as the case may be at a very early stage.
What training methods best suits your employees?
Training could be either one of more of hands-on-training, web-based-training, handouts, multi-media training or the handouts. We usually use a combination of these various methods but the actual selection of the combination of training methods will largely depend on the nature of the project.
What resources are you willing to devote into training?
Obviously, training for an Enterprise Software Solution requires the use of computers that have the software in question to be installed and functional. Other required or optional equipment and items, including other computers, notebooks, printers, projectors, etc., would have to be made available as well as the training materials. your staff are not only comfortable with the transition to a more powerful system, but also fully understand the power and capabilities of the new system.
